Description
The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Pilar, stands on the banks of the river Ebro in the Aragon city of Zaragoza. Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque in architectural styles, it is believed to be the first church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The modern day building stands on the site where Saint James build a chapel around 40AD. The current construction was started in 1681 and not finished until 1972.
